Judy McLane, Kevin Massey and More To Star In 29 Hour Reading Of CLICQUOT: A REVOLUTIONARY MUSICAL

Two presentations of the 29 hour reading for a brand new musical will be held at Open Jar Studios at 11am and 3:30pm on March 13, 2020. The reading is directed by Laurie Glodowski with music direction by Kenneth Gartman and produced by 35th Parallel Productions.

Clicquot, A Revolutionary Musical is an exhilarating story that takes place in the wake of the French Revolution when one woman changed the champagne industry forever. Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot led an aristocratic life, but when her beloved Francois died unexpectedly only a few short years after their marriage, she did the unthinkable. Thanks to the bravery, audacity, and talents of Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot, Veuve Clicquot is now celebrated as one of the greatest Champagne houses in the world.

LISETTE GLODOWSKI (Book, Music, Lyrics) Lisette Glodowski is a New York based composer/lyricist singer, actor, dancer, and choreographer. Lisette received her MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts. She works at The Neighborhood Playhouse, is a Co-Founder of Champagne Musical LLC production company, and is an ambassador of the arts withThe Phred Foundation. *BroadwayWorld nominee for Best Choreography for the regional production of ONCE at Theatre Raleigh.

RICHARD C. WALTER (Book, Music, Lyrics) Richard is a composer/lyricist from Stamford, CT. He has studied and worked as a composer and arranger in many genres, including musical theatre, choral, a cappella, pop, jazz, and film scoring. Richard received his B.A. in Music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts.

Broadway March Madness Announced at THE BLACK BOXBroadway March Madness is coming to THE BLACK BOX, the region’s premier theater, music, and event venue in downtown Franklin. Stars of Broadway will be in residence at THE BLACK BOX throughout the month of March.

March Madness begins with THE BLACK BOX Broadway Series on March 7 starring Broadway couple Kara Lindsay and Kevin Massey. Broadway icon Kara Lindsay‘s credits include Wicked (Glinda), Newsies (Katherine, Original Cast and Fathom Events Film), and Beautiful (Cynthia Weil). Kevin Massey‘s Broadway credits include Disney’s Tarzan, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Memphis, and Deaf West’s Big River. His European credits include Disney’s Tarzan and Grease. The special one-night-only concert is sponsored by the Franklin Cultural District Committee and will be followed by master classes for aspiring performers the next day.

Broadway Stars Debut this Weekend in Disney on Broadway Concert Series at Epcot

Epcot has been bursting with color and excitement ever since the Epcot International Festival of the Arts kicked off last weekend! From now until Feb. 24, 2020, you can experience all the fantastic artwork, stunning performances and art-inspired family fun this celebration has to offer. The Disney on Broadway Concert Series has returned to the festival this year, bringing fan-favorite music to World Showcase as Broadway stars sing renditions of songs from award-winning Disney shows. 

The concert series is already underway, and we are excited to welcome a new set of performers to the America Gardens Theatre stage on Jan. 26. Kara Lindsay, who starred in the original Disney on Broadway production of “Newsies,” and Kevin Massey, best known for his starring role in the original production of Disney on Broadway’s “Tarzan,” will perform eight nights of shows beginning this Sunday. The pair will be joined by another dynamic duo of Broadway stars, Liana Hunt (“Newsies”) and Adam Jacobs (“Aladdin”), for a special joint performance on Feb. 9.

  • Jan. 21 and 24 – Kissy Simmons and Alton Fitzgerald White (“The Lion King”) 
  • Jan. 22 and 23 – Heidi Blickenstaff (“The Little Mermaid”) and Gavin Lee (“Mary Poppins”)
  • Jan. 25 – Special performance featuring Simmons, White, Blickenstaff and Lee 
  • Jan. 26, 28, 29; Feb. 1, 2, 5 and 6 – Kara Lindsay (“Newsies”) and Kevin Massey (“Tarzan”)
  • Jan. 27, 30, 31, Feb. 3, 4, 7 and 8 – Liana Hunt (“Newsies”) and Adam Jacobs (“Aladdin”)
  • Feb. 9 – Special performance featuring Lindsay, Massey, Hunt and Jacobs
  • Feb. 10, 12, 13, 18, 19, 22 and 23 – Ashley Brown (“Mary Poppins”) and Josh Strickland (“Tarzan”)
  • Feb. 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20 and 21 – Syndee Winters (“The Lion King”) and Michael James Scott (“Aladdin”)
  • Feb. 24 – Special performance featuring Brown, Strickland, Winters and Scott.

All shows are performed at America Gardens Theatre and are included with theme park admission.
